About Gameoverse

I'm Wasabi. I've been live streaming since 2005, back on Justin.tv and UStream, long before "content creator" was a job title. Gameoverse started in 2014, and if you were around for the Instagib days, hey, you know who you are, and I'm glad you're still here.

Gameoverse is everything that's grown out of that: this site, the podcast, the stream, the Discord, all of it. No company behind it, no investors, just a group of people who really like video games and wanted a place to hang out and talk about them.

How we operate

Everything here is, and always will be, completely free. No ads, no sponsorships, no brand deals, not on the site and not in any of our content. If you want to support what we're doing, donations are welcome and always appreciated, but the only thing they get you is a permanent Discord role and a site badge, for any amount you give. There's no premium tier, no early access, nothing paywalled. Support doesn't buy you anything special, it's just a thank you.

We also don't review games or hand out scores. We're not critics, we're just fans, of the games themselves and of this weird, wonderful industry that makes them. A lot of people in this space are building a business, and there's nothing wrong with that, it's just not what this is. We're here because we genuinely love this stuff, and we'd probably still be doing it even if nobody was watching.

To everyone who's been here since the beginning, and to everyone who found us along the way: thank you. This community has outlasted platforms, redesigns, and probably a couple of my own bad ideas, and that's entirely because of the people in it. I truly believe video games are the highest form of art there is, and getting to sit around with people who take that just as seriously, arguing over which boss fight was better like we're a bunch of art snobs at a museum, is genuinely my favorite thing in the world. Thanks for doing that with me.

What's here

  • Podcast. A weekly show about what we've been playing and what's happening in gaming, going back over a decade of episodes.
  • Big Screen. Our live stream, with real-time chat and a built-in idle RPG you can play right alongside it.
  • Game Calendar. A release calendar with real prices, aggregated critic scores (not ours, we don't review games), and platform availability, plus tools to follow games you're waiting on and track your own library.
  • Radio. A self-hosted, always-on stream.
  • Game Servers. Community-run servers, starting with a modded Minecraft world anyone can join.
